“That is the IGBOK I placed on my front door to thank the wonderful folks that swept in and lifted everything to higher ground when the waters were rising and we were out of town. Thank You!!!!”

The 2010 Flood
In May of 2010, Middle Tennessee received three days of constant rain. An average of 14 to 15 inches of rain fell over displacing homes and families in 49 counties. Some areas of Middle and West Tennessee received as much as 20 inches of rain. Rivers, such as the Cumberland River, which passes downtown Nashville, flooded their banks, and even the walls of the Grand Ole Opry House couldn’t keep over 8 feet of water from making it’s way inside. It was quite an event.
And igbok was there.
Tennesseans responded by stepping up to the plate and taking responsibility in many areas for situations in which they could contribute. Together they did the work that needed to be done. Even still, the effects of the flood will be felt for many months to come.
